Sussex Stride Marshal's Walk - Details

THE OBJECT
To complete a journey of 51 miles in 20 hours, over downland, bridleways and footpaths.

ELIGIBILITY. This event is only open to walkers who intend to marshal the Sussex Stride in September 2010. Finishing times will be recorded, arrival times at checkpoint locations will not. Completion of this walk will count towards the KSS Triple Challenge.

ENTRY FEE
 Nil.  No entries on the day.

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
The route description will be available as a download from the Sussex Group website - www.ldwasussex.org.uk - from 14/8/2010. If you require a paper copy please include a SAE, minimum size A5 with a 'large letter' stamp.

REGISTRATION     Please be at the start by 07:55,

FINISH
Certificates will be posted to all entrants who complete the route by 04:00 Sunday 29th August 2010.

REFRESHMENTS
A mobile refreshment facility (MRF) will meet the walkers at the checkpoint locations. During the day this will provide water and light snacks. At East Dean, due to be reached from about 17.30 onwards, hot drinks and sandwiches will be provided. Hot and cold drinks and snacks will be available at the subsequent checkpoint locations. PLEASE NOTE - there will be only one MRF which will have to keep pace with the leading walkers.

FACILITIES AT LONGHILL On road car parking.

The weather on the South Downs can change quickly. The organisers recommend that all entrants carry the following :
Maps to cover the whole route (OS 198&199/Explorer 122 & 123), compass, whistle, torch with spare batteries and bulb, waterproofs, warm clothing, first aid kit and extra food & drink.
